We had the opportunity to attend a showcase last month for the rising photography star, Dennis Menendez.  The event was held at The City Club, a beautiful historical unique venue right in the heart of downtown San Francisco, and put on by none other than our well admired good friend Duncan Reyes!

It was a time well enjoyed by everyone from the live latin band, to the exotic drinks, and of course the  food that we couldn’t keep our hands off of!  We were able to catch up with familiar faces, while also meeting some new people.  Duncan always knows how to throw a party.

Dennis’ philosophy is to engage life through his photography and capture those moments in order to make them last forever.  We were impressed with his work that was on display and look forward to seeing more of it in the future!

We encourage you to check out Dennis M Photography as well!

Introducing Entire Productions at the Oakland Rotunda

Our hats go off to Entire Productions for the FABULOUS launch party in January we are so proud to have been a participating sponsor for! The Teatro Rotunda event was hosted at the Oakland Rotunda, a beautiful historical venue in downtown Oakland built in 1912.  This spectacular building with it’s 120 foot high, 5,000 square foot elliptical dome provided the perfect setting for what was planned for this occasion.

Entire Productions, owned by friend and fabulous singer Natasha Miller, is an entertainment booking agency that you can always rely on when you want to make your event extra special. They know the most outstanding and professional entertainers in the business and can be sure to leave the guests at your event with an unforgettable time.  We had a great time working with her team on the event.

We started off the night by greeting guests with glasses of champagne and checking them in, but it wasn’t long until the working stopped and the partying began! Being that Entire Productions is not your average entertainment company, it was no surprise that their launch party was anything but ordinary.

The night was filled with great entertainment which included trapeze artists, a hoola-hoop  dancing artist, and a live band that kept the spirits high all night! We had a fantastic time and are so honored to have been a part of the launching of Entire Productions! Take a look at some of additional action photos from the evening thanks to Claudia Akers Photography.  And we can’t wait to see the video by David from A Video Reflection.

Sushi with Nancy Liu Chin…

We are off to a busy year full of lots of exciting opportunities. One of those was the chance to have lunch with Nancy Liu Chin, one of the industry’s most well known floral designers based in San Francisco. As usual Nancy was her normal bubbly, outgoing and friendly self and we had a great time catching up at a really good local Japanese restaurant Hotaru in San Mateo.

Nancy once worked in marketing and retail merchandising, but switched careers to floral design after realizing it was her true passion after planning her own wedding. Nothing about Nancy’s floral designs are ordinary, and we got to see this first hand at a past wedding together at the San Francisco Presidio. Check out the event and her work on our site: Kim&Paul. Her unique personality definitely shines through into her work, creating one-of-a-kind pieces. Any event put on with Nancy Liu Chin Designs can be sure to exhibit modern chic, with a twist of elegance and fabulous details, resulting in a beautiful work of art.

With years and experience in the industry, we were happy to spend a little more time with her and to hear that she was part of the upcoming “The Wedding University” on Sunday, February 8th. It is an all-day workshop of practical, useful, HONEST information for brides and grooms on various topics. Find out more by visiting their blog. Space is limited, so sign up if you can.

It was truly a pleasure having lunch with Nancy and we look forward to working with her again in many future events to come. You can view the outstanding work of this amazing floral designer and other details on her very chic website: http://www.nancyliuchin.com/

The Cupcake Challenge

•December 31, 2008 • 1 Comment

By the Girls (Claudia, Ann, and Crystal)

Ann from the fabulous Your Wedding Day magazine stopped by our studio yesterday to visit our new location. Our planned simple visit ended up as a great afternoon full of positive energy, future obtainable visions, an invaluable lunch where Jen from Jen’s Cakes joined us, and then “The Cupcake Challenge.” The name speaks for itself.

After lunch, Claudia from Claudia Akers Photography, had a great idea to stop by the new Kara’s Cupcakes in Santana Row; great little simple shop with delicate looking cupcakes. Now of course being professionals and since it was the first visit for the three of us (Claudia, myself, and Ann), 3 cupcakes just wouldn’t suffice…8 sounded much better.

As we sat in Starbucks, we quickly tried to figure out the best way to split the 8 cupcakes. The only fair and logically way was for all 3 of us to try all of them. Next thing we knew the competition began. We knew they’d all be good, but we had to find the best.

The finished product

The winner clearly was Carrot Cake, with chocolate velvet and meyer lemon close behind.  We had hoped to meet Kara herself to share our findings, but she unfortunately wasn’t available.  But no worries, we left her the love letter below with the results:

Hooray…we finally made it official!!! The long awaited opening of our new design studio took place Thursday, November 13th and it was a success!  After 4 months of hard work, Claudia of Claudia Akers Photography and we at Amazáe Special Events welcomed folks to the opening of our unique office space in Santa Clara.  After all, we are always looking for a reason to throw a party, so what better of an excuse than to share our studio with everyone! It was an opportunity for us to thank our vendors and clients, share our new space, and showcase Claudia Aker’s work and our abilities not only as coordinators but designers.

If you can imagine, being in the industry, we couldn’t just throw an open house it had to be a whole event it itself. Greeted by valet parking and a glass of champagne at the door, guests knew they were in for an exquisite treat!  After walking into the studio filled with beautiful floral designs and lighting, you then proceeded on past mouthwatering desserts into a tent filled with magnificent décor, delicious food, and open bar!  Everyone seemed to be having a blast.  We sure did.  Take a look at this picture with some of our awesome vendors (top left clockwise – John Gomez, Jennifer Skog, Linnae from Asiel Design, Claudia Akers, Augie Chang, Crystal with Amazáe, Michelle, and David with AVR):

Andrew Hsu of Studio MSV creator of this new concept Vendor Chic, www.vendorchic.com, combines many elements, providing vendors creative freedom to work together in a unique way to implement their vision. It’s hope is to continuously inspire Brides and Grooms, while giving them a preview of vendor’s capabilities.

This summer Amazáe Special Events was honored to be asked to coordinate and design one of Studio MSV’s projects, and to work with  Jennifer Skog Photography , whose photography speaks for itself, and Maria from Professional Make-up Artistry. Maria is in a class of her own, with skills and support beyond others in her industry.

We collaborated on the second project for vendor chic to produce an ultra-exclusive video, Monoco Chic. With this project we were able to not just tell you our capabilities, but more importantly show you what we can do. Amazae Special Events design work, along with the concept of vendor chic provided us the opportunity to  share an inspiration.  We were happy that the design photos were picked up by a prestigious magazine.  Stay tuned for those details.

Shooting was done in several locations including a unique hotel in the heart of San Francisco, Hotel Diva, and on the Yacht Lady from Yacht Connections Interational.

We are so honored to collaborate with other fabulous vendors and we hope you take a look at their great work as well!

Our Summer 2008 Events Series– Jacqueline & Demian’s Wedding

•October 20, 2008 • Leave a Comment

This past summer was a productive one for Amazáe Special Events and we wanted to share some of our exciting events. All were special in their own way and we were so thrilled to be a part of them. We will be posting what we can as we get photos from the distinguished photographers we were able to work with these past few months.

So that leads us to our first summer event posting, Jacqueline and Demian Lee’s wedding.

It was a great treat to work with Jacqueline and Demian. This special couple had a very unique wedding that really expressed who and what they were about from their culture, personality, and love for each other and those around them. From the very beginning of our planning from stationary to a well practice and performance first dance, everything was well thought out.

The minute Jacqueline arrived with her wonderful hair and make-up done, we knew it was going to be a lovely day. The chosen garden were amazing grounds for this special wedding with regal taiko drummers and the beautiful music trio to fill the air. It was a hot day, but the Reverend was able to keep his cool with a perfect service.

And if that wasn’t already amazing enough, the reception was the perfect end to a fantastic day.  This traditional Chinese banquet restaurant never looked so great, or tasted so good :-) With the work of Amazáe Special Events design and our awesome vendors, the couple walked into a fully transitioned room with linens, lighting and drapery, and perfect floral design. The cake scape says it all.

It was an honor to be part of Jacqueline and Demian’s as their event coordinator and designer. Congratulations!

Thank you to Kerry Rodgers Photography for the provided photos. Here are a few other great shots from Kerry at the wedding.
